Wednesday nights

Hello everyone,
Just want to give you an update on our Wednesday night schedule for the youth. Our youth group is for anyone in grades 7 - 12. We eat supper at 6:00 pm and give the youth a few minutes to talk, play ping-pong, listen to music... There are always some who come in late, so this extra time gives them time to eat. At 6:30 we all meet (Cram!!) into the youth room for announcements and worship. We have been averaging in the 60's so the youth room gets really small and hot with that many people. We are blessed to have adults leading small groups each week as well. After our worship time, and introduction of our lesson, we divide into 6 small groups based on age. We try to finish each week around 7:45. Last week, we finished an incredible series called "Why Jesus"? It was filmed on location throughout the Holy Land. The junior high boys class stayed late asking so many questions! Special thanks to Danny Swinney for answering these, and leading this class. I invite all parents to come and join us for 1 night, you might just get hooked into staying!

Make sure and pick up your Parent packet, with all the details for our upcoming events.

Happy Mother's Day

Hello Everyone,
I don't know if anyone is reading these post, but here it goes anyway. We celebrated Mother's Day here at First Baptist yesterday. The sanctuary was decorated by lovely flowers in memory of Mrs. Inez Roberts. There was also flowers left from the family of Mrs. Margaret Goodson. The choir sang a couple of songs, and Heather Hancock sang "Prayer Warriors". She always does a great job, and this song was perfect to honor our prayer warrior mothers!
Bro. Stanley gave us a message showing how Mary cared, corrected and loved her son Jesus. He also brought some personal reflections of being a dad. We are truly blessed to have a pastor who shares with us, and leads us as Bro. Stanley does.
I hope each of you had time to see your family. Carmon and I visited our mothers, and the boys had a chance to say Happy Mother's Day.
Upcoming: Next Sunday (May 17th) will be our Graduate service. We are really proud of our High School Graduates:
Bentley Burns - Tupelo High School Sydney Castleberry - Baldwyn High School
Bailey Davis - Saltillo High School Brett Davis - Saltillo High School
Breanna Johnson - Baldwyn High School and Jay Nelson - Saltillo High School
These six will take part in our service.
We also have two who will not be here. Samantha Grisham graduated in December and has already enrolled at Northeast. Rial Copeland will graduate from the National Guard Challenge Academy.

We will also honor Billy and Merle Glover this Sunday with a reception in the gym. The Glovers' will be moving to be near their son. We will miss thess Godly, faithful servants, and wish them well.

Summer Events

Hey Everyone,
Just wanted to give you an update on all our summer events, with a description of each trip.
1. Junior High Camp - Student Life at the Beach: This year we are taking the JH on a separate summer trip. June 12 - 16 we will attend Student Life in Orange Beach, AL. We will stay at the Phoenix Condos right on the beach. Student Life is a great conference, great worship, concert and gifted speakers. Deposits are due now and balances are due in May. We are full for this trip.
I will have a parents meeting in May to answer all questions and get all forms filled out.
2. World Changers: This is our 3rd year to attend WC. Our numbers have grown each year, from 6 to 11 and now 17 this year. We will attend World Changers in West Memphis ARK. for a week of mission work. This camp is open to all youth, and the only cost is $50. This amount is due now also. Notarized forms need to be filled out this month. Again, I will have a meeting about this very soon. Bro. Stanley and I will go over to ARK on April 24th to see the lodging site and where we will work. June 20 - 27 is the date for this trip.
3. High School Summer Camp: July 6 - 10 at Student Life at the Beach as well. We have 4 spots left on this trip. Deposits are due now and final balances are due in May.
4. Super Summer: This is our final trip of the year. "SS" is our MS Baptist Youth Leadership Camp, held at Mississippi College. Youth have to have finished 8th grade to attend this camp, and also accomplish a list of requirements. The goal of SS is for our youth to grow to be leaders in our youth groups and in our church. We will have 6 youth attend this year.
Lastly, many thanks to the wonderful adults that have volunteered for these trips. All camps are filled on adult spots with the exception of Super Summer. I still need one female to attend this.
Please be in prayer for these events, as they always have a way of impacting our youth in a wonderful way.
Thanks
Bryan

Happy New Year

Hello Everyone,
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas season. It is also our with that you have a Christ centered New Year. Our youth came back New Years Eve from the Strenght To Stand Conference in Sevierville, TN. It was a great trip, wonderful speakers (Scott Dawson, Jared Herd) and worship led by Kristian Stanfill. It was also a chance for me to go back to the mountains, where Carmon and I lived for 3 years. Gatlinburg had all the lights of Winterfest on. Our youth loved the view from the overlook at night. So we are already kicking off a new year of ministry.
Starting Wednesday night our Junior High Youth will start GRAPPLE. This is a web based ministry which will include access to a website with devotions, games and recaps of the weeks lessons. We are glad to have Brenda Williams, Steve and Robin Phillips and Danny Swinney leading our small groups.
JH CHOIR: We will start this Sunday with our Junior High Choir at 5:00 pm. I hope all our JH youth will take part in this.
Lastly, Carmon and I want to thank you for being such a blessing to our family. We are truly blessed to be in such a loving church.

Bro. Bryan
